Hackney Borough planning committee have given approval for the construction of a 45-storey mixed hotel and office block next to the Broadgate development in London.

The site is being developed by New York-based Masterworks Development Corporation which owns the Club Quarters hotel brand. The new Club Quarters hotel with 390 bedrooms will be located in the top 27-floors of the building with office space beneath.

The new development is located at 13-14 Appold Street. It will replace the 1988-built Bavaria House which currently stands on the site.

Demolition of Bavaria House is scheduled to take place in November 2015 which will clear the way for a three and a half-year construction programme.

Currently there are three Club Quarters hotels in London: at Trafalgar Square, St Pauls and Gracechurch Street close to Monument tube station.
