Jurys Inn seeking travel writers


Jurys Inn group is seeking out budding travel writers to test the benefits of a short break. Jurys Inn is searching for twelve travel writers to road test a city break and report back. The City Break Bloggers will be invited, with a friend or partner, to spend a weekend courtesy of Jurys Inn, enjoying everything a UK city break has to offer, before sharing their experiences on the Jurys Inn website. But hurry you only have until 20th April to submit your application - which is to write in 200 words what your ideal UK city break would consist of.

Greenlands Bee Hotel

It’s been far too long since we had a good bee story.  Take a bow - Henley Conferences at Greenlands who I met at the My Venues showcase last week at Conference Aston in Birmingham. They told me about their bee colonies.

They have introduced ‘Bee Hotels’ at Greenlands, installed on the wall behind Kennet House.  Of the 250 species of bee found in the British countryside (no I didn’t know there were that many either) there is a specialist group which nest in small cavities, such as cracks in walls, hollow plant stems and beetle holes in dead wood.

Dakota Hotel Edinburgh - a personal view


I am not a great fan of gothic-style hotels where the walls and corridors are painted black; where there is little daylight and candles illuminate everything. I much prefer white, bright and open with loads of natural daylight.
