Hull City Council has granted planning approval for a new hotel in the city. It will be located on the site of the former Lexington Avenue nightclub. The site has been left unoccupied for a number of years.

The hotel will be a Hilton Garden Inn property and it is expected to open in 2017. The six-storey building will be on a series of levels with the highest part to the front overlooking Ferensway in central Hull.

The new hotel will have 167 bedrooms as well as a restaurant and bar, leisure facilities and conference and events space.

The new Hilton Garden Inn Hull will provide accommodation for the large increase in visitor numbers the city is expecting when it becomes the ‘City of Culture 2017’.
