Newham Council in London has just grant planning permission for the development and extension of London City Airport – a development which will also include a new hotel. The proposed £200million development will triple the size of the existing terminal as well as creating a new six-storey four-star hotel with 260 bedrooms.

Subject to the Mayor of London’s final planning approval, construction is expected to start by the end of this year with a final completion date expected in 2023.

Leicester City Football Club has recently completed a £3million upgrade of its King Power Stadium. King Power Stadium now has seven modern and contemporary conference suites and 43 hospitality boxes incorporating the latest presentation equipment and free wi-fi facilities. This investment has included LED colour lights in the conference suites that can change to accommodate corporate branding requirements along with a 14 sq-mt video media wall in one of the largest rooms.

Walkers Hall and Keith Weller Lounge on the first floor are the two largest conference suites accommodating 650 and 500 delegates in theatre style respectively. There are three further meeting rooms on the second floor plus the Banks Lounge and Gallery on the third floor. All have natural daylight and air conditioning. The stadium includes over 400 free car parking spaces.

King Power Stadium is located in Filbert Way, two miles from Leicester Station in the centre of the city and just over a mile from the M1 at junction 21.

Vinopolis, the wine tasting events venue and restaurant in London has announced that it is to close at the end of 2015 to make way for a new retail development. Vinopolis opened in 1999 under the  railway arches on the southern approach to the Cannon Street railway bridge. Events will run as normal throughout the rest of this year at Vinopolis. It will close on 31 December 2015.

The new retail development due to replace Vinopolis will not include any event space.
