Plans have been submitted to Newcastle City Council to build a £100million mixed-use scheme on the site of Newgate Street shopping centre which would include a 250-bedroom hotel.
Under the plans the current 1960’s buildings would be demolished to make way for the development which, in addition to the hotel, would also include around 30,000sq-ft of retail space, restaurants, leisure and office space. If the planning application is successful development could begin by the end of 2014.
