New York-based Highgate Holdings has gained planning consent for a mixed hotel and commercial office scheme in Shoreditch High Street in East London. It will be Highgate Holdings’ first hotel in London.

The scheme will comprise a 200-bedroom Highgate Shoreditch Hotel plus around 130,000 sq-ft of commercial space.

Highgate Shoreditch Hotel will feature a Sky Lounge at roof level. It will be one of three “glass boxes” that will feature at different levels of the building. One will be on the ground floor and will contain a market. A mid-level glass box will be called the Shed and will serve as a venue for lectures, presentations and other events.

Highgate Shoreditch Hotel will replace the Majestic Wine Warehouse currently on Shoreditch High Street. Construction is due to start in the second quarter 2016 with completion expected by the end of 2018.
