Development work has started on the new Postal Museum scheduled to open in central London in 2017.

The Postal Museum explores centuries of British history through the lens of the postal service, all brought to life through objects, stories and interactive experiences. The Royal Mail archive dates back to the 1800s but this is the first time its treasures have been brought together under one roof.

The highlight of a visit to the Postal Museum will be the opportunity to travel on the Mail Rail - the Royal Mail's private underground railway.

The Postal Museum will a cafe and shop. Details of meeting and banqueting facilities at the Postal Museum have not been released yet.

The Postal Museum and Mail Rail will be located next to each another at Phoenix Place in central London approximately ten minutes from Farringdon, Angel, King Cross and Chancery Lane stations.
