Gir Lion Lodge is the latest boutique hotel to open London. It is the first time overnight accommodation has been available inside London Zoo. The guests are promised a ‘room with a zoo’.
Gir Lion Lodge is located within the zoo’s Land of the Lions development which Her Majesty the Queen opened in ZSL London Zoo in March 2016.
There are nine lodges available; five of them have double beds and four have twin beds. The décor in each lodge is inspired by the lion’s native Gir Forest home in India.
They have en-suite facilities with a toilet, basin and shower. Each has a private veranda. They are simply furnished with a comfy bed with soft linen and pillows, a sofa bed, a beside table and mirror, tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary toiletries.
Guests are restricted to the lodge area between 10.00pm and 8.00am for their own safety, but they can view the lions in their own enclosure throughout their stay.
Lions are reputed to sleep for up to 20 hours a day but apparently, just like humans, they never miss a meal time - so the guest is virtually guaranteed a viewing at some point during their stay.
ZSL London Zoo offers a range of private suites and meeting rooms within its 36 acres of zoological gardens. The facilities can be used for away-day meetings, special events and team-building exercises.
ZSL London Zoo is located in Regent's Park in the heart of London and within walking distance of both Camden Town and Regent's Park tube stations.
