American hotelier André Balazs is planning his second hotel in London having just opened the Chiltern Firehouse in Marylebone. The new hotel will be a Standard Hotel, the first Standard brand to open outside the United States.
The site is a former council office in London’s King’s Cross. He is planning to convert the 150,000 sq-ft Camden Town Hall annexe into a 250 bedroom hotel. The conversion is expected to take around two years to complete.
Balazs already has five Standard Hotels located in Los Angeles, Miami, Hollywood, and the East Village and Highline in New York.
