Last month we reported on a possible new 215-bedroom hotel in the centre of Manchester.
The hotel would be created from the conversion of an eight-storey office block on Deansgate – all part of a wider scheme to improve the city’s Mulberry Square area, just off Deansgate in central Manchester.
Manchester City Council planning committee are currently considering this proposal plus plans for another two possible hotels in Manchester.
The first of these is a new 221-bedroom Hampton by Hilton hotel (pictured above) next to the 20-acre NOMA scheme. The part seven-storey and part nine-storey hotel complex would feature a dining area, a fitness centre, meeting rooms, a combined reception and hotel bar plus 20 parking spaces. A glass-enclosed walkway would link both wings of the hotel.
The other proposed hotel would a new 172-bedroom AC Hotel by Marriott; the second AC Hotel to open in Manchester. This would be located on a brownfield site on the edge of Manchester’s Northern Quarter. The new AC Hotel by Marriott would feature a ground floor bar-restaurant, reception and meeting rooms as well as accommodation on the upper floors over two wings.
All three schemes have been recommended for approval.
