The recent sale of Nottingham's Guildhall site has kick-started a proposed £110million development of the building to include a four-star hotel with conference facilities, offices and student accommodation.
Development work is expected to start at the 1.4 acre site in 2018.
Nottingham Guildhall opened in 1888 and staged major criminal trials before Crown Courts were set up. It continued to house magistrates' courts until 1995. It still has the former police offices and prisoners' cells in the basement.
Nottingham Guildhall is located in Burton Street in the centre of Nottingham and is opposite Nottingham Conference Centre.
