Plans to create the first Radisson Red lifestyle hotel in the UK have been approved by Bristol City Councillors.
The development, Bristol’s tallest residential building at 22 storeys, will be located in the city’s Redcliff Quarter.
The hotel will be one component of a planned 600,000 sq-ft mixed-use urban village. The aim of the project is to make Redcliff Quarter a new ‘destination’ in the heart of the city. It is close to the public transport networks and occupies a prime location close to the Harbourside and Bristol's business and retail quarters.
Rezidor Hotel Group would operate a 185-bedroom Radisson RED hotel at the development. Radisson RED is the group’s new lifestyle brand targetting the millennial market.
Radisson Red Bristol will be an upscale four-star hotel, the design and theme of which will reflect the area’s industrial past. In this case Redcliff was known as the centre of the glass-making industry along with rope and ceramics factories.
Construction work is expected to start on site mid-2017.
