The Good Hotel, the first floating pop-up hotel in London, is now open.
The 148-bedroom Good Hotel travelled across from Amsterdam and is berthed in London’s Royal Victoria Dock for the next five years.
The purpose of the Good Hotel is to extensively train long-term unemployed locals in various jobs in the hospitality industry. After concluding the ‘Good Training’, participants will be offered a three-month contract at Good Hotel. The entire process is designed to give participants a real chance to get off welfare and get a new future.
The design of the Good Hotel is described as a ‘pure industrial style’.
The bedrooms range from 13 sq-mt to 30 sq-mt. Standard rooms come with a twin or double bed. Deluxe and Corner rooms have a king-size bed.
Amenities include an en-suite bathroom, in-room safe, coffee/tea facilities, a small writing desk and free wi-fi. Water views are optional in the Standard rooms but obligatory in the Deluxe and Corner rooms.
The Living Room is where the food and drinks are served. It is open all day, every day.
The Rooftop is a green and open space with a terrace and bar overlooking London, Canary Wharf and the River Thames.
The four meeting rooms range from S to XL. All offer natural daylight with views over the river. XL includes an in-room pantry and will accommodate up to 50 delegates classroom style. The Living Room hosts up to 120 guests for cocktails.
Good Hotel offers free wi-fi everywhere, 24-hour front desk and concierge services, bike rental and free iPads for guests' use.
Good Hotel is located on the water in the Royal Victoria Docks with direct travel links to central London and cable-car access to Greenwich and the O2 Arena. London City Airport, ExCeL London Exhibition Centre and The Crystal business hub are close by.
