The Royal Horticultural Society has published plans to establish its fifth UK garden – in Salford.
The new 150 acre-plus garden will be on the site of the former Worsley New Hall. It will be known as RHS Garden Bridgewater and it forms part of the RHS 10-year £160million investment programme.
As well as various gardens, allotments, glasshouses, teaching and development space, RHS Garden Bridgewater will also include an events and learning space plus a shop and café.
If planning permission is granted, development work could start on site by spring 2017 with the aim of opening the Garden to the public in summer 2019.
