Jesus College in Cambridge has just celebrated a topping out ceremony for its new West Court conference facilities.
The Master of Jesus College, Professor Ian White, laid the final stone on the roof parapet wall. He was then presented with a commemorative engraved bricklayer’s trowel by the contractors to mark the occasion.
In 2014 Jesus College purchased West Court, a Grade-II listed building with a landscaped court at the heart, all belonging to its neighbours Wesley House. Since then Jesus College have embarked on a project to refurbish and reconfigure the building to provide additional facilities.
Meeting-wise, West Court will include a multi-functional lecture hall equipped with the latest communications technology. It will accommodate up to 190 delegates. It will also house dedicated events space plus a café, terrace area and basement bar.
30 hotel-standard bedrooms opened in West Court autumn 2016. These are available to book all year round.
Some rooms in West Court are already available for external bookings. The Webb Library can be used for a range of events, from drinks receptions for up to 180 people to lectures for up to 75 delegates. Alongside, the Bawden Room is available for smaller meetings and receptions.
Jesus College is located on the site of a Benedictine Nunnery just off Maids Causeway and is approximately two miles from the centre of Cambridge.
