The Old Course Hotel Golf Resort and Spa in St Andrews enjoys a great location alongside the famous 17th Road Hole on the St Andrews Old Course. But the location also has its drawbacks.
The hotel’s 28-year-old slate roof has been hammered by stray golf balls over the years leading to a considerable amount of damage. The remedy – install a rubber roof.
The Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa is currently closed and due to reopen mid-April 2017 following a refurbishment.
Work on a replacement rubber roof has now begun. Golf course officials are also putting up netting to ensure the safety of roofing crews ahead of the hotel’s reopening in April.
The new roof is designed to absorb and deflect the energy from golf ball impact without any dents, cracks or damage.
The Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa is also undertaking a soft internal refurbishment of over 100 of its 144 bedrooms. This includes changes to the décor of the rooms and the introduction of features such as USB charging points, ergonomic electrical outlets for flexible working with closet lighting also included.
Although The Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa is closed, the Jigger Inn, The Duke’s Golf Course and Hams Hame will remain open throughout.
