Plans to upgrade Warwick's Grade I-listed Shire Hall to create a modern events space have been recommended for approval.
The Shire Hall and Law Courts on Northgate Street were built in the 1750s. They hosted civic and ceremonial events for more than 250 years but the building has been largely vacant since 2010.
Refurbishment work to secure a viable future for the building have been drawn up by Warwick County Council.
The total capacity of the Shire Hall is 500 people. Apart from the Great Hall, other rooms which could become available for events include the Judge's House, High Sheriff's Room and the dungeons.
The works have been recommended for approval ahead of a Warwick District Council planning meeting at the end of February.
