Plans have been submitted to create a new 130-bedroom Moxy Hotel in the Spinningfields area of Manchester city centre.
The Moxy Hotel would be created from a refurbishment and extension of the Silk Works building at Invicta House in Spinningfields.
The existing office building dates from the Victorian era and is located within the Deansgate/ Peter Street Conservation Area.
The proposed development would retain the original Victorian façade with a new eight storey office development erected behind. The building was initially being converted for office use
Moxy Hotels are part of the Marriott Hotels Group. They are boutique hotels ‘with the social heart of a hostel’. It is Marriott’s bid to capture the Millennial market.
Currently there are two Moxy Hotels in the UK at Aberdeen Airport and Moxy London Excel. A third opens this summer in Stratford in London.
