The Grand Hotel in the centre of Birmingham will reopen in 2018 following its extensive £45million renovation.
The Grand Hotel was 137 years old when it closed in 2002. The French Renaissance-style building was showing its age and had fallen into a state of disrepair.
However the Grand Hotel has been undergoing a major refurbishment since 2012, a process designed to return the hotel to its former glory.
The new hotel will have 170 bedrooms.
Horton Estates, owners of the Grand Hotel, are said to be in the closing stages of negotiations with a four-star hotel operator to take over The Grand Hotel lease.
The main Grosvenor Suite in the Grand Hotel will open to the public this year for a series of special events, including the Flatpack Film Festival.
