Surrey County Cricket Club in London is planning to make their ground, the Kia Oval, the largest cricket stadium in the UK with a capacity of 40,000. The club aims to complete construction in time for the Ashes in 2023.
The centrepiece of the development will be a replacement for the Bedser Stand which could add up to 8,000 seats – as well as an enlargement of the existing OCS Stand.
The Kia Oval currently has a capacity of 25,500.
The Kia Oval also has a wide range of conference and events facilities including 19 individual suites that will accommodate up to a 1000 delegates in total.
These include the Corinthian Roof Terrace at the top of the OCS Stand with views over the ground as well as across to central London. This will accommodate up to 600 guests on an informal basis.
The main England Suite at Kia Oval will seat 650 delegates for a theatre style meeting.
Surrey CCC already has planning permission for a large development next to the Pavilion - 1 Oval Square - which will incorporate additional capacity and facilities.
Work could begin at the end of 2019, following on from the ICC Cricket World Cup.
