The long-running and often controversial attempt to successfully transform the Grade II-listed London Road Fire Station in the centre of Manchester into a hotel appear to be reaching the end – at least of the planning stages.
Developers have finally been granted planning permission by Manchester City Council to turn the site into a boutique hotel plus restaurants, bars, apartments and work spaces.
The property has been vacant since 2001.
The Zetter Group will operate the hotel which is expected to have around 100 bedrooms. It will be the group’s fourth hotel and their first outside London.
London Road Fire Station is located in the shadow of Manchester Piccadilly station in the city centre.
Zetter Hotel at London Road Fire Station is scheduled to open in summer 2019.
