Plans have been approved to transform The Old Palace in Chester into a 24-bedroom boutique hotel.
The Old Palace, at the heart of Chester city centre and overlooking the River Dee, was the one-time official residence for the Bishops of Chester but has now been vacant for several years.
The Old Palace is Grade II-listed and stands in its own landscaped grounds. It enjoys a secluded location behind Chester Civil Justice Centre and is adjacent to St John the Baptist’s Church.
Plans for the building include a contemporary glazed extension which will form part of a new events room – a space with views of the City Walls and Roman Gardens.
Sanguine Hospitality who have masterminded the scheme now have full planning approval for the redevelopment.
