Trafford Park Hotel in Greater Manchester is about to be rescued after spending the last eight years in dereliction.
Built in 1902, the Grade II-listed property was sold earlier this year and is now owned as a joint venture between Nine Group and Ashley Hotels.
They plan to refurbish and relaunched the hotel under a mid-market international boutique brand.
Planning permission has been submitted for the creation of an additional wing to the red-brick building which will increase the total number of bedrooms to 120.
Nine Group is the owner and operator of 18 branded hotels in the UK including the Mercure St Albans Noke Hotel and the Crowne Plaza Basingstoke.
Trafford Park Hotel stands on the corner of Third Way and Ashburton Road in Trafford Park Village in Manchester. It was built initially to house workers at the newly created Trafford Park Industrial Estate.
