Architects will shortly start work drawing up redevelopment plans for a site which is the current home of the Renaissance Hotel in the centre of Manchester.
As well as the 203-bedroom Renaissance Manchester hotel, the site also includes office accommodation and a multi-storey car park.
Marriott has a management agreement to operate the Renaissance Hotel until the end of 2019.
Glenn Howell Architects are now working up future plans for the site; a prime site at the Cathedral-end of Deansgate in Manchester city centre.
A planning application for the development is expected to be submitted next year and is likely to include a new 5-star hotel plus residential, retail and leisure outlets.
