Tottenham Hotspur FC has secured Government planning approval to build a new 58,000-capacity stadium following its recent public inquiry. The ‘Northumberland Development Project’ covers a three hectare site alongside the club’s existing White Hart Lane ground in north London.
The new stadium will be built to the north of the existing stadium which will remain in use throughout the development. It will be constructed in four phases. Out of season, the North Stand of the existing stadium will be demolished and the new pitch laid with a partially completed new stadium in use for one season. The remainder of the existing stadium will then be demolished with the new stadium completed, ready for the start of the 2017 season. Confirmation of the time scale plus details of conference and banqueting facilities await publication.
