Plans have been submitted for a new 207-bedroom hotel in Liverpool.

The hotel would form part of a mixed use redevelopment of the Echo Building in Old Hall Street in Liverpool’s business district.

The Echo Building is owned by newspaper group, Trinity Mirror.

The 18-storey building has a three storey podium base with a central tower rising above.

The central tower has been vacant since 2007 and the newspaper group moves out of the podium section this March.

The hotel would be housed in the existing 15-storey tower and would feature a restaurant and bar with an open kitchen, a lounge, a 24-hour fitness zone and meeting space.

There would also be a rooftop skybar with an external terrace looking out over the River Mersey.

An international hotel group is being lined up to operate the new hotel.

The lower floors of the building would include retail and office outlets.

The plans are due to be considered by Liverpool City Council.
