Sheffield United Football Club has published plans for the development and extension of the South Stand at its Bramall Lane stadium.
Sheffield United FC is seeking approval for a new second tier with an additional 5,400 seats plus an associated concourse with food/drink kiosks.
In addition, improved facilities for the less abled are planned together with new executive facilities, a media centre, a multi-purpose events facility and exhibition space. Approximately 250 car parking spaces over two levels will also result.
Bramall Lane stadium - the world's oldest continuously used professional football venue - is increasingly being used for a multitude of non-footballing events.
Bramall Lane stadium currently has ten conference and events suites with the Platinum Suite, the largest, seating up to 400 delegates for a theatre style meeting.
The on-site Copthorne Hotel Sheffield with 158 bedrooms also has extensive meeting and events facilities.
Detailed design information for the planned extension is to be submitted to Sheffield City Council following an outline consent originally granted in 2009. A decision is expected in early Spring 2018.
Bramall Lane Stadium is close to the heart of city centre Sheffield and offers free car parking and free wi-fi.
