The new Hampton by Hilton hotel at the One Call Stadium would have 100 bedrooms, a gym, bar and restaurant.
Separately, the One Call Stadium's conference rooms: the 1861 Suite, the Kevin Bird Suite and directors' box will continue to act as the main areas for meetings, conferences and events.
A final decision is in the hands of the borough council. If approved the new Hampton by Hilton at One Call Stadium could be open by the start of the 2020/21 season.
