Methodist Central Hall in the centre of Birmingham could be reborn as a 147-bedroom hotel plus a 75-suite aparthotel.
A final decision on whether to approve a multi-million-pound regeneration project is set to be made by the council's planning committee on Thursday 1 March.
Methodist Central Hall dates from 1904 and although it was built for religious purposes the building has spent the last few years hosting a nightclub before finally closing in 2017.
The building is currently on Historic England's 'Heritage at Risk' register.
Plans submitted would see a three-storey roof extension added.
In addition to the hotel, the building would also house a variety ofretail, food and beverage unitswith possibly a nightclub on its upper levels.
The project is being masterminded by the American-based, Dream Hotel Group. It has announced plans to open the first of its new boutique brand - Unscripted Hotels – in Birmingham.
Methodist Central Hall is located in Corporation Street in the centre of Birmingham – around a five-minute walk from Birmingham Snow Hill station and ten minutes from Birmingham New Street station.
