L’oscar is a new hotel scheduled to open in central London at the end of May 2018.
L’oscar will be located in a former Bloomsbury Baptist Church, in Holborn. Its name pays tribute to the Irish writer Oscar Wilde.
The Baptistchurch dates from the early 20th century and retains some of its original tiling, flooring, and ornately decorated ceilings. In recent years it has fallen into dereliction and has now remained empty for the last ten years.
The original building was five storeys high. The new hotel has added two more.
L’oscar will open with just 39 individually designed bedrooms with a ‘luxurious turn-of-the-century feel and decorated with silk, velvet and damasks’.
L’oscar will feature the Baptist Grill restaurant located in the original octagonal 1903 chapel, topped with a glass dome.
The Committee Room, with its original stucco ceiling will form the events space at L’oscar.
L’oscar hotel is located in Southampton Row, a short walk from Holborn station.
