L’Oscar Hotel London is opening on 23 May 2018 in what was once the U.K headquarters of the Baptist church in Southampton Row.
The public spaces, including the Baptist Grill in the former chapel and Café L’Oscar, will open in May with the bedrooms following in early June.
The Baptist church dates from the early 20th century and retains some of its original tiling, flooring, and ornately decorated ceilings.
In recent years it has fallen into dereliction and has now remained empty for the last ten years.
L’Oscar will open with just 39 individually designed bedrooms with a ‘luxurious turn-of-the-century feel and decorated with silk, velvet and damasks’.
The Baptist Grill restaurant is located in the original octagonal 1903 chapel, topped with a glass dome.
The Committee Room, with its original stucco ceiling, will form the events space at L’Oscar.
L’Oscar hotel is set up to become the brand’s flagship heading a collection of ten L’Oscar hotels expected open over the next 10 years. It is located in Southampton Row, a short walk from Holborn station.
