Plans have been published for two new hotels at the proposed Airport City development at Manchester International Airport.

The two new hotels would sit alongside the airport’s Terminal 2 building.

The hotels include a 280-bedroom Holiday Inn and a 262-bedroom Ibis Budget hotel.

A full planning application has just been submitted for the Ibis and Holiday Inn with construction targeted to start in early 2019.

Completion is scheduled for the first quarter of 2021.

The Holiday Inn and the Ibis Budget take the number of planned new hotel projects at Manchester Airport to four.

Approval to build another two new hotels at Airport City Manchester received planning consent earlier this year. These include a 375-bedroom 4-star hotel and a 254-bedroom 3-star hotel. These two hotels would be located adjacent to Manchester Airport’s transport interchange.

If all goes to plan, Manchester’s Airport City will have four new hotels by 2021, providing 1,171 new hotel rooms. At the same time passenger numbers using the airport are forecast to grow from 26million in 2017 to 35million by 2027.
