Lindeth Howe hotel in Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake District has unveiled a £1million investment.
Features include a new ‘tea room’ for conferences, meetings and social occasions as well as a total refurbishment of the lounges and bar area.
Built in 1879, Lindeth Howe was owned by Beatrix Potter for almost 20 years in the early 20th century and the hotel has retained its strong links with the author.
Lindeth Howe has 34 new–look bedrooms plus a new vegetable garden with an outdoor seating area for al-fresco dining.
Lindeth Howe has dropped ‘country house’ from its title in a bid to widen its appeal although it is set in six acres of gardens on a hillside overlooking Lake Windermere. It is around a 30-minute drive from the M6 at junction 36.
