Staycity, the Dublin-based serviced apartment operator, has announced plans to open 106 studio apartments in London’s Covent Garden in December 2015.
Staycity currently have three serviced apartment blocks in London, at Heathrow Airport, Deptford Bridge and in Greenwich High Road.
Staycity have also started building work on a new 170-bed Staycity Aparthotel located in the Newhall Square mixed-used scheme in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter Conservation Area (see picture left). The new aparthotel will wrap around a three-storey Grade II-listed Victorian warehouse and is scheduled to open in May 2015.
Further north in Manchester it is understood that Staycity have plans to convert Gateway House, the S-shaped building on the approach road up to Piccadilly Station in Manchester, into an aparthotel. The building currently has retail outlets on the ground floor but the upper office floors are empty. Planning permission was granted in 2011 to create a 182-bedroom aparthotel but the scheme never progressed. More
