The former Midland Bank headquarters in King Street in the centre of Manchester will reopen in April 2015 as Hotel Gotham.
The building, one of Manchester's grandest, listed buildings, was designed by Victorian architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. It is currently undergoing a multimillion pound transformation. The aim is to create a Japanese and Tuscan inspired hotel – claiming to be one of the ‘sexiest hotels in Europe’.
The ground and basement floors are currently home to a Jamie’s Italian restaurant. The seven upper floors will house 60 hotel bedrooms. The hotel will also feature four suites with private indoor gardens. Hotel Gotham will include a restaurant, a roof garden and a private members bar.
Hotel Gotham will be operated by Bespoke Hotels. King Street is located in the heart of Manchester’s financial quarter a short walk from Manchester Piccadilly station.
