Squire Hotels has purchased the Windermere Hydro Hotel, an 84-bedroom, 19th century hotel located on the edge of Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake District. The Windermere Hydro Hotel will join Etrop Grange at Manchester Airport and the Samlesbury Hotel just outside Preston in Squire Hotels - both of which have undergone a major refurbishment under their new owners.

The Windermere Hydro is located in an elevated site in Bowness with views over Lake Windermere. Originally built as a water-cure hotel in the late Victorian era the Windermere Hydro now has an indoor swimming pool, sauna and mini-gym plus conference facilities to accommodate up to 200 delegates.
