Planning approval has been granted for the Surf Snowdonia inland surfing lake in North Wales. Construction work is set to start next month. The site is a former aluminium works in the village of Dolgarrog in the Conwy Valley. It will be the UK’s first inland wave park for surfers which aims to use Spanish wave-making technology to create 6ft breakers that race down the 300metre long lagoon. The plans also include a “wave garden” with lagoons, water slide, wakeboard lake, accommodation units, restaurant and retail facilities. The project is due to open summer 2015.
