The group behind Hatters Hostels chain has secured funding for a major refurbishment programme. The group is named after its first site, a former bowler hat factory in Newton Street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Hatters Hostels now has four properties, two in Manchester and one each in Liverpool and Birmingham. The investment will include upgrading the properties and the development of new bar facilities in Birmingham and Liverpool.
Hatters Hostels offers a range of accommodation from en-suite single, double and twin-bedded rooms, each equipped with a plasma television, clean towels, fresh bed linen and secure keycard access to dormitories sleeping from four to 14 people and even larger new style ‘pod dorms’. Hatters Hostels offer a free breakfast, free wi-fi and 24hour check-in/security.
Hatters at Newton Street is now a 160 bed hostel and a five minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly station. Hatters at Hilton Chambers, also in central Manchester, is a ‘boutique’ style hostel in Hilton Street.
Hatters Birmingham is based in the Grade II-listed Vaughton Gothic Works in Livery Street in the city's Jewellery Quarter. It is the former silverware factory which created the original FA Cup.
Hatters Hostel Liverpool is the largest property with 300 beds and is located in a Victorian building in Mount Pleasant, five minutes from Liverpool Lime Street station.
