Wasps Rugby Club has unveiled a series of planned upgrades to its Ricoh Arena in Coventry over the coming months. The existing on-site 121-bedroom Ricoh Arena Hotel is set to become a DoubleTree by Hilton. A major refurbishment programme will start in the second quarter of this year with the new hotel brand launching in early autumn 2015.
In June 2015 a new railway station opens on-site at the Ricoh Arena with direct links to Coventry and Nuneaton stations offering mainline connections to London, Birmingham and the north of England.
Further improvements at the stadium will include upgrades to existing bars and restaurants. When the work is finished, the Ricoh Arena will offer five bars and three restaurants on-site.
The Ricoh Arena is a 32,600-seater stadium for both rugby and football. As well as being home to Wasps, the Ricoh Arena also houses 20,000 sq-mt of flexible event space with 80 small meeting rooms plus the Jaguar Exhibition Hall accommodating up to 12,000 delegates for events.
The Ricoh Arena is located on the outskirts of Coventry with good access to the midlands motorway network. It has 2000 car parking spaces.
