Moonraker may sound like the name of a modern hotel but the building, which is now houses the Moonraker hotel, is mentioned in the Domesday Book as being part of the Abbess of Glastonbury’s estate.
The Moonraker was formerly the Old Manor Hotel. It has been renamed in memory the Wiltshire brandy and spirit smugglers who operated by moonlight throughout the Middle Ages.
The Moonraker now has 21 bedrooms and a walled garden, as well as bee hives, rare breed pigs and chickens. The bedrooms are located in the manor house, the old pig sties, the old cow sheds and the old barns. All are en-suite, furnished with antiques and equipped with wireless fibre optic broadband and a flat screen television. The restaurant offers farmhouse-style dining using locally sourced and home grown ingredients plus produce from the on-site smokery.
The Moonraker has a small boardroom and a two acre paddock which can be used for team–building events including clay pigeon shooting and an assault course. Drawing and painting, smoking and curing course can also be arranged at the hotel. Exclusive use of the Moonraker is possible.
The Moonraker is 15 minutes from Bath and the M4 and 30 minutes from Bristol by car. Bradford on Avon and Trowbridge stations are a four minute drive from the hotel.
