The 400-year Hensol Castle at the Vale Resort on the outskirts of Cardiff has reopened as a conference venue following completion of a £10million revamp to restore it to its former glory.
Meeting facilities at Hensol Castle now include the new purpose-built Courtyard Hall, accommodating between 200 and 320 delegates. Five smaller rooms will complement the main hall seating between 10 and 100 delegates. The Courtyard Hall has been designed to be energy efficient with heat-retaining and heat-reflective glass, low energy lighting and a natural grass and wildflower roof.
Hensol Castle will be available for exclusive use.
A second phase of the investment will include the addition of 30 bedrooms and a restaurant, both of which are expected to open late 2016.
The Vale Resort itself has also invested £1 million in upgrading its 143-bedrooms installing new bathrooms and upgrading soft furnishings.
Hensol Castle, which has been used in the past as a stage set for Sherlock, Doctor Who and Torchwood, is a former stately home. It is located six miles from Cardiff city centre and three minutes off junction 34 of the M4. It is set within landscaped gardens and has a 15-acre lake and serpentine pond.
