Plans have been submitted to Westminster Council to build a new 190-bedroom hotel at Hyde Park Corner in London. It will be known as The Peninsula London. It will also incorporate a spa, restaurants, bars, shops and a ballroom.
A 1960s office block currently stands on the site at 1-5 Grosvenor Place. This will be demolished and replaced with the new hotel plus up to 28 new apartments within the £50million development.
If plans are approved construction of the new hotel is expected to start summer 2017 with an opening scheduled for 2021.
The Peninsula London will be operated by Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels. It will be the group’s third hotel in London joining the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in Knightsbridge and the Shangri-La in The Shard.
