Plans to build a new five-star hotel on Blackpool's Golden Mile have been submitted to the council. The proposals envisage a 96-bedroom hotel on the Promenade with penthouse suites overlooking the promenade and the Irish Sea.
The project is the brainchild of businessman Peter Swann, who owns the company that operates Sands Entertainment Venue in the resort and who is also chairman of League One side Scunthorpe United FC.
The new hotel would be built on the site of the former Palatine Hotel which together with other buildings on the site including Central Station were demolished in the 1970s during a period of large-scale redevelopment in Blackpool.
A decision is expected before the end of the year.
