Moor Hall in Aughton, West Lancashire is a Grade II-listed manor house dating from the mid-sixteenth century and set in five acres of gardens overlooking a lake.
It is currently undergoing a major renovation and will open in 2016 as a 50-seat restaurant with seven bedrooms - five in the main house and two in the gatehouse nearby. There will also be a private dining room for 12 guests.
Michelin-starred chef Mark Birchall will head the kitchen team. He was most recently executive chef, with Simon Rogan, at the Michelin two-starred L’Enclume in Cartmel, Cumbria. His menus will showcase his own style of modern British cuisine developed over the last 15 years.
Future plans for Moor Hall include the transformation of additional buildings - lodge, barns and stables - within the grounds for extensive further dining and kitchen operations, as well as developing the gardens, orchards and lake.
