Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has unveiled further details of the £400million planned transformation of its White Hart Lane stadium in north London. With a 61,000 planned capacity it will become the largest club stadium in London.
Plans include four new asymmetrical stands, with a retractable grass field used for football underneath an artificial surface which will be used to host two America Football games a year as well as other sporting, entertainment and community events. There are also plans to establish an entertainment district around the stadium which would include a 180-bedroom hotel, an extreme sports centre, a “Sky Walk” adrenaline attraction on the roof of the stadium and a “Tottenham Experience” – a permanent visitor attraction and museum charting the club’s history.
Construction work has already begun on preparation works and the stadium is set to open in time for the 2018-19 season. To allow the works to take place, Spurs will relocate away from White Hart Lane for the 2017-18 season with Wembley Stadium being mooted as the possible destination.
