Planning permission has been granted for the first phase of the £1.3billion St. John’s redevelopment scheme in the centre of Manchester.
St. John’s is centred on the former home of Granada Television studios in central Manchester and the former Coronation Street set. Both will make way for the 2.8million sq. ft. regeneration scheme.
The existing eight-storey Granada Studios building will be converted into an event hotel with restaurants, bars, roof terraces, a rooftop pool and a cinema. It will also include new performance and entertainment spaces in the old broadcast and recording studios.
The 25-acre St. John’s development is located between Castlefield and the Spinningfields business quarter in Manchester.
