Reading Football Club has unveiled plans to transform an undeveloped parcel of land currently used for car parking into a mixed-use development with the Madejski Stadium at its heart.
The development - named Royal Elm Park - will include a new 250-bedroom hotel and a new mix of leisure facilities, including an ice rink, restaurants and a large public square.
The Madejski Stadium opened in 1998 and is the home of Reading Football Club and London Irish Rugby Club. The 201-bedroom Millennium Madejski Hotel Reading is set alongside the ground with the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre a two minute walk away.
Madejski Stadium is less than two miles from the M4 motorway at junction 11.
