Forestry Commission Scotland and Highlands and Islands Enterprise are inviting feedback from local people and businesses on their ‘Leanachan Masterplan’ - a new resort in 7,300 acres of national forest land next to Ben Nevis.
Leanachan Masterplan includes a five-star resort hotel, bunkhouse and low-impact alternative tourist accommodation and a campsite all located in an enhanced woodland setting in the shadow of Ben Nevis.
The area provides access to the Nevis Range with its world class mountain biking and scenic walking trails. The resort hotel is designed to complement rather than compete with existing provision in the area, according to the Forestry Commission.
A drop-in day at the Pinemartin Café, Nevisrange on the 4th November is scheduled and this will include a presentation on the project.

Wandsworth Council has granted planning approval for phase three of the Battersea Power Station redevelopment on the south bank of the Thames in London. This will form the main gateway from the south and includes entrances to the new Northern Line tube station and a new pedestrian high street separating two futuristic building projects.
On the west side of the high street will be a distinctive wave-shaped 17-storey building designed by Foster and Partners. It will include a 167-bedroom hotel as well as residential properties and a health centre. It will also feature one of London’s largest roof gardens extending the full length of the building.
The eastside of the high street belongs to American architect Frank Gehry and will feature his ‘Flower Building’ (pictured) with residential properties plus shops, cafes, bars and restaurants on the lower levels.
The target date for completion of phase three is 2020 when the Northern Line Extension is expected to be operational.
