BLOC Hotels have published plans to open a second hotel in Birmingham. The new hotel with 238 bedrooms would be located close to the southern entrance to Birmingham New Street Station and the Grand Central complex.

An office block, Gallan House, currently occupies the site but if plans are approved this would be demolished to make way for a new 25-storey building housing the new BLOC Grand Central hotel.

BLOC hotel rooms are designed around a 'pod' concept - removing extra fixtures and fittings to maximise space and create more bedrooms.

BLOC Grand Central would include a café/restaurant at ground floor level and would feature an open-air roof terrace.

BLOC Hotels is a Birmingham-based hotel group. They opened their first property in the city’s Jewellery Quarter in 2011, and have recently added new bedrooms. The group also operates BLOC Gatwick Airport at the South Terminal.
