The Lodge at Newbury Racecourse opens with 36 bedrooms on 1st June 2016. Built initially as a hostel to house stable staff on racedays, The Lodge will now be open all-year-round.

The Royal Angus Hotel currently has 133 bedrooms but plans are afoot to increase this to 226 bedrooms.
Two storeys would be added to The Royal Angus Hotel which is located in St Chad's Queensway in Birmingham’s Snow Hill district. Some refurbishment work is also planned.
Other changes at The Royal Angus include converting the former Snowhill Snooker Centre which was underneath the hotel into a gym which will be leased to the budget chain Pure Gym.
The Royal Angus Hotel was at one time part of the Thistle Hotel Group but rebranded last summer and is now a member of the Hotel Collection.
Last year, Birmingham City Council unveiled its £600 million Snow Hill Masterplan - a 20-year vision to transform the area around Snow Hill station with offices, residential accommodation and public space. A 224-bedroom Holiday Inn Express opened at One Snow Hill Plaza in 2013. This has also played a role in developing the profile of the Snow Hill district.

The Lion Quays Hotel and Spa in Oswestry, Shropshire has looked to Downing Street for inspiration for its new conference centre.
The hotel has created four new ‘Cabinet Meeting’ rooms.
The Cabinet Room itself is the largest accommodating up to 60 delegates theatre style with private breakout space. The Westminster Room, Number 10 and Number 11 rooms will accommodate 20, 12 and 10 delegates respectively, boardroom style.
The renovated Cabinet Rooms are located in a dedicated business zone of the hotel. Each room pays homage to the Westminster corridors of power. All are furnished in a contemporary style with lots of natural daylight, a wall mounted television and presentation technology, conference call facilities, complimentary wi-fi and complimentary stationery.
The Lion Quays Hotel and Spa also offers delegates use of the ‘Sweet Cabinet’ - a choice of teas/coffees, popcorn, slush and a variety of retro pick and mix.
The Lion Quays Hotel and Spa also has a large ground floor banqueting suite accommodating up to 400 delegates and overlooking a private walled garden and the Llangollen Canal.
The Lion Quays Hotel and Spa has 82 en-suite bedrooms, bar and multiple restaurants including waterside dining plus a country club and spa. The hotel grounds are available for team building exercises.
Perhaps the UK seat of government could consider a temporary move to Shropshire when, as it is looking increasingly likely, the Palace of Westminster in London will be forced to close for essential and long overdue maintenance work.
The Lion Quays Hotel and Spa is located within 45 minutes of Shrewsbury, Chester, Birmingham and Manchester.
